Add a resource

Do this Help topic if you want one or more resources available to the entire section or to just the current passage.

Otherwise, see Configure a General Resource or Link a Shared Resource.

The Add button only appears for Admins and members who have been assigned this step.

The Add button has these options:

Uploads

  1. Click the Add button and then click Uploads.

The Upload Resource dialog box appears.

  1. Drag and drop one or more files into the box, or click the box and browse for the files.

  2. Type a description for the files you will upload to distinguish them. See PIC Note below.

  3. Click the Category down arrow () and then click a category for that audio file. means that resources with this category will be available in steps that use the Compare tool.

If necessary, you can add a new category:

  1. Select (PIC) the best Resources for option that indicates how the resource will be used.

  2. Click Upload.

Link (URI)

A URI means Uniform Resource Identifier. You must be online or have an Internet connection for these links to work.

  1. Click the Add button and then click Link (URI).

The Link Resource dialog box appears.

  1. Paste or type the link to the resource.

  2. Type a description for the link.

  3. Click the Category down arrow () and then click a category for that audio file.

If necessary, you can add a new category:

  1. Select (PIC) the best Resources for option that indicates how the resource will be used.

  2. Click Upload.

Record

  1. Click the Add button and then click Uploads.

Record/Edit Audio dialog box appears.

  1. Speaker box: Type or paste the name of the speaker. Provide rights if necessary.
  2. Click PIC (Record) or press the keyboard shortcut (F9 or Ctrl + 9) and speak into your microphone.

  3. Click PIC (Pause) or press the keyboard shortcut (F9 or Ctrl + 9) when you are finished or want to pause recording for a moment.

  4. Click PIC (Play) or press the keyboard shortcut (F1 or Ctrl + Space) to listen to your recording for quality and usability.

  5. Do any of these steps if necessary:

  1. Description box: Type a brief description to distinguish the recordings.

If you do not type a description, Audio Project Manager will add a default description. It might not distinguish the recordings. 

  1. Category box: Click the down arrow () and then click a category for that audio file.

If necessary, you can add a new category:

  1. Resources for: Select (PIC) the best option that indicates how the resource will be used.

  2. Click Save.

Text Resource

  1. Click the Add button and then click Text Resource.

The Enter Text dialog box appears.

  1. Enter Text box: Type or paste in text that you want to add as a resource.

  2. Description box: Enter a description to distinguish the texts.

  1. Category box: Click the down arrow () and then click a category for that audio file.

If necessary, you can add a new category:

  1. Resources for: Select (PIC) the best option that indicates how the resource will be used.

  2. Click Save.

Linked Shared

  1. Click the Add button and then click Link Shared.

The Link Shared dialog box appears.

  1. Do the steps in Link a Shared Resource.

Note

If you type a description, all files will have that same description.

You would need to edit the descriptions or categories to distinguish them.

If you do not type a description, then the file names are used. This is best if you will upload more than one file.

Here are things you can do in the table:

  1. Click PIC (Play) to hear the audio resource file.

  2. Click PIC (View) to see a textual resource.

  3. Click and drag the drag handle () to reorder resources.

  4. Select () Show resources for all passages so you can see all the resources for all the passages in the section.

  5. When you are done with a resource, select () the check box in the Completed column for that resource.

  6. Click to edit a resource.

  7. Click to delete a resource (if your role permits).

In this case, the recorded Provide Rights voice sample must be already available. You can choose a name, but not record a new sample at this time.
