Audio Project Manager runs in an Internet browser. Audio Project Manager Desktop runs in a separate window and can be used both online or offline.
Data is saved on the cloud (servers) when online, but also locally in "AppData" folders (typically not accessible to users).
Some information is stored in a local cache. If you reported an issue, you may be asked to clear the cache to see if your problem goes away.
Import / Export Files
PTF- Portable Transcriber Format (*.ptf) files are created when you export a full audio project. You can store the file as a backup file. You can give team audio projects () to another member who uses the Desktop. Be aware that personal audio projects (
) are only available to the person who added it.
ITF - Incremental Transfer Files (*.itf) are created when you export incremental change data from Desktop.
Each audio project, section and passage has a separate identification value. If someone changed any content in any of these, it will be part of the incremental export file. This includes everything from changing your profile to transcribing a passage.
Audio files are not included in ITF files. So if a team member got a new file, it should also be shared with others when then they share the ITF file.
The Confirmation dialog box appears if the import process finds a matched identification value. The file with the most recent date overwrites the corresponding file with that has the older date.
Audio files also have separate identification values, but currently these are not included in the *.itf file
You can upload *.mp3. *.mp4, *.wav or *.ogg files.
When you record or edit audio files, you can save them as compressed (*.ogg) or uncompressed (*.wav) files.
Audacity Manager dialog box also discusses audio files.
When you backup all audio projects, the files are saved in a *.zip file.
Typically, audio files are stored locally at C:\Users\<your name>\transcriber\media.
