Getting Started page - Desktop app only

Audio Project Manager Desktop has a page called the Getting Started. Audio Project Manager that runs in browsers does not have this page.

Getting Started page buttons are described below. Some buttons open the Connection Mode page with additional options for you. Other buttons open an appropriate dialog box or chooser.

Setup a team audio project

If your role is Admin, click this button so you can set up an audio project. All the set up work must be done online, but you and your team, if any, can work occasionally offline.

Changes made while a computer is offline will be automatically synchronized when that computer has access to the Internet.

Work in a team audio project

If your role is Admin, Transcriber or Editor, click this button if you will work online.

Changes made while you are offline will be automatically synchronized when you work online.

Click it to work offline (PIC). If you work only offline, you must export your changed data and give the export file to the Admin to update the master audio project. Experimental Features are not available.

Click this button if you will work either online or offline () in an audio project that you will import.

Work Alone

These options allow you to work alone in personal audio projects (PIC).

Be aware that It is not possible to change a personal audio project (PIC) to be a team audio project (PIC). If there is a possibility that your audio projects will be worked on by team, you should work online as a team of one person. If you do not invite any others, you can continue to work alone and work online or offline.

Click this button if you will work online.

After you log in, you can create a new audio project. Your audio files will be stored online.

Projects you add with this button will also appear if you log in with other buttons that let you log in.

Click this button if you will work offline.

The first time you click this button a new offline user is added, called Initial User. You can create a new audio project.

Your audio files will be only stored on your computer, so you should backup all audio projects as you work. You can edit the user profile.

Experimental Features are not available.

Important

It is recommended that you work online unless Internet access is expensive or not usually available. If your audio project is sensitive, you may want to work offline.

Online work saves your data on servers so it is automatically backed up. Offline work can require team members to share files to keep a master file up to date. Also, online audio projects can integrate with Paratext online instead of only locally (on your computer).
