A workflow is a set of steps in a certain order. Primarily, you see these steps in the Work view, but also in the Sections & Passages tab. Teams or individuals do these steps as they complete their work.
How teams or you arrive at your goals is flexible: When you add a team, you choose one of the workflow options listed below. Each option provides a unique default workflow. There is one workflow per team and one workflow for all your personal projects. You cannot change your choice after the team has been added. Instead, you can edit the workflow.
Your project layout can affect your workflow:
Hierarchical: For this layout, there can be multiple passages in each section.
A row of passages appears like this example:
When you complete a step, your workflow progression can be either passage-to-passage or step-to-step. You make this choice in the Add Team dialog box or in the Team Settings dialog box.
Flat: For this layout, there is one passage per section. In this case, your workflow progression is always step-to-step.
You can see examples here.
Oral Bible Translation (complete) - This workflow aims to produce an OBT and an accompanying transcription that can also be published. It uses Paratext for all steps where there is an option to use it.
Oral Bible Translation (like Render) - This workflow is the closest approximation to the steps of a Render 2.0 project.
Oral Bible Translation (oral only) - This workflow is somewhat similar to the OBT (Complete) workflow, except that there is no vernacular transcription or sync with Paratext. But you can transcribe the back translation. The Term Verify step helps you type the vernacular terms and make audio recordings of those terms.
Oral Bible Translation (simple) - This workflow uses Audio Project Manager (APM) mostly for file management to help produce an OBT. It assumes all checking happens outside of APM. However, you can add more steps.
Oral Drafting - The goal is a written product.
Render to Paratext - The goal is a written product.
Storying - The goal is a Bible-based story that is accurate, easy to remember and easy to communicate.
Transcribing - The goal is a written product of scripture or other general content.
These options are described at https://software.sil.org/audioprojectmanager/solutions-2/.
(Set this and all previous steps to complete) lets you select the Step Complete check box for the current step and all previous steps for the current passage at the same time.
Personal Audio Projects default to the Transcribing workflow.
Individuals who want to do work in multiple different workflows can add one-member teams.
