Do any of these steps in the Audio Project Manager Desktop app. You cannot use Audacity with Audio Project Manager that runs in a browser.
In the Sections & Passages tab, click (More) in the Extras column for the passage you will work with. Alternatively, open a step that uses a Record tool.
Click (Launch Audacity).
Audacity Manager dialog box opens.
Click Create.
Audacity opens. The project name is added automatically.
Do one of these steps:
Record the audio file in Audacity.
Import an existing audio file into Audacity. Edit it as desired.
Save the project.
Export the audio file in the desired format (e.g. *.mp3 or *.wav), and then close Audacity.
Type the name of the speaker in the Speaker box. Provide rights if necessary.
Then click Import in the Audacity Manager dialog box.
To verify the audio file is correct, you can click (play) to hear it, or click the Audio tab to see the metadata for that file.
In the Sections & Passages tab, click (More) in the Extras column for the passage that has the audio file you want to edit. Alternatively, open a step that uses a Record tool.
Click (Launch Audacity).
Audacity Manager dialog box opens.
Click Open.
Audacity opens and you see the project name in the top title bar.
In Audacity, if you do not see the audio file waveform, use Import on the File menu to import it.
Edit the audio file in Audacity.
Save the Project.
In Audacity, use Export on the File menu to export the audio file in the desired format (mp3, WAV or OGG).
If you are asked if you want to replace the existing audio file, click Yes.
Close or exit from Audacity.
Click Import in the Audacity Manager dialog box.
The file is imported into Desktop.
After you see the notification that the file was uploaded successfully, click Close.
To verify the audio file is correct, you can click (play) to hear it, or click the Audio tab to see the metadata for that file.
In the Sections & Passages tab, click (More) in the Extras column for the passage that has the Audacity project you do not want to use any more. Alternatively, open a step that uses a Record tool.
Click (Launch Audacity).
Audacity Manager dialog box appears.
Click Unlink.
The Audacity Manager dialog box appears again.
But now, no project is listed in the Audacity Project line, and Browse and Create buttons are available. Now you can browse for another Audacity project or create a new one.
When you close the Audacity Manager dialog box, you are no longer managing the connection to that Audacity instance. But that Audacity instance has control of the Audacity project for that passage. So you have to close Audacity and let the Audacity Manager dialog box open it again if you want to re-establish communication between Audio Project Manager and Audacity about that Audacity project.
On computers with Windows® operating system, folders that store your Audacity files are typically stored in Documents/Audacity.
