You need to have a microphone to record a voice.
If you will use experimental features you need an Internet connection, except for the Normalize feature. If you use Desktop, you must be online.

In this case, you can load and edit an existing audio file. Alternatively, you can record a new one.
Do these steps in the dialog box:
Type or paste the name of the speaker in the Speaker box. Provide rights if necessary.
Click
(Select microphone) and then click the microphone you want to use, if necessary.
Click the Name box and then type or edit the name for the audio file.
Select (
) Compressed for a compressed (*.ogg) file, or clear (
) it for an uncompressed (*.wav) file.
If the Audio Project Type control is shown, select (
) a type.
If the Book control is shown, click it and then click a book.
If the Language control is shown, click it and then use the Choose Language Details dialog box.
If the Spell Check control is shown, select (
) it if you want to enable spell checking for the language you chose.
Click
(Record) or press a keyboard shortcut and speak into your microphone.
Click
(Pause) or press a keyboard shortcut when you are finished or want to pause recording for a moment.
Click
(Play) or press a keyboard shortcut to listen to your recording for quality and usability.
Select a portion of the audio waveform that you do not want to keep, and then click
(Delete Region).
Click
(Undo) to undo the deletion.
If you want to add a moment of silence, click the area in the waveform where you want the silence to begin and then click
(Silence).
Use the Seconds control to change the duration of the silence, if desired.
If any of these experimental features are selected (
) in the Team Settings dialog box, or the Personal Settings dialog box, do any of these steps:
Click
(Reduce NoiseAI) to reduce the noise for the entire audio file or a selected portion of the audio recording that is too noisy.
Click
(Convert Voice speakerAI) to use this experimental feature. See
Note below.
Click
((Normalize) to normalize the volume level of the entire audio recording, or of a selected portion of the audio recording.
Click
(Delete Entire Recording) if you want to start over.
Click
Load Latest File if the audio file is not already in the dialog box.
Edit your audio file in any of these ways:
Click
(Reduce NoiseAI) to use this experimental feature.

(Convert Voice <speaker>AI) to use this experimental feature. See

Click
((Normalize) to normalize the volume level of the entire audio recording, or of a selected portion of the audio recording.
If you see a long moment of silence or another region you want to remove, select that region in the waveform, and then click
(Delete Region).
Click
(Undo) to undo the deletion.
If you want to insert or overwrite a region of new audio, do these steps:
Click the point in the waveform where you want to start recording.
Record new audio and stop immediately to avoid overwriting content you want with silence.
If you want to add a moment of silence, do these steps:
Click the area in the waveform where you want the silence to begin.
Use the Seconds control to change the duration of the silence, if desired.
Click
(Silence).
(Convert Voice <speaker>AI) is available before you save a new audio recording.
In this case, the recorded Provide Rights voice sample must be already available. You can choose a name, but not record a new sample at this time.
