The segmentation toolbar is above the audio waveform. It has controls with keyboard shortcuts that you use when you work with segments. Segments work with the loop feature.
You can use the auto segmenter and then also manually add, more or remove segment boundaries. However, you cannot use both Auto Segmentation and manually selected portions for Discussions in the same step. If you have selected portions that appear in the Topic line, and then use the Auto Segment (
) feature, the locate (
) button and flags (
) will no longer work.
Choose the step (e.g. Phrase Back Translate) that allows you to add segments.
Click
(Auto Segment).
The auto segmenter adds segment boundaries in the waveform.
Play (
) the audio file.
If the segments are not as you want them, do any of these steps:
Manually click and drag a segment boundary.
To see segments and boundaries in the waveform differently, click
(Zoom In),
(Zoom Out) or
(Fit File to Width).
Click a place in the waveform where you want to add a boundary and then click
(Add/Remove Boundary).
Click a boundary you do not want and then click
(Add/Remove Boundary).
Click a segment and then click
(Remove Next Boundary).
Click
(Clear Segments) to remove all current segment boundaries.
Click
(Auto Segment parameters) to open the Auto Segment Parameters dialog box.
Change one or more parameters.
Click Apply in the dialog box to update the segments.
Examine the results. The total number of segments is stated in the dialog box, and you can see them in the audio waveform.
Change parameters and click Apply until you see the desired number of segments.
Click Close.
