Here is how each term is to be understood.
A segment is a portion of an audio waveform that is defined by segment boundaries.
Segment boundaries can be added with the auto segmenter (
), in some cases. Alternatively, you can add them manually. You can click and drag a boundary to move it.
Each segment has a start time and an end time which is determined by the locations of its boundaries in the waveform.
The start-end times of a segment can appear in discussions.
You can transcribe segments separately from one longer audio file. The loop control (
) helps you do this. See Also: Mark Verses.
A region is a portion of an audio waveform that you selected manually with your mouse.
Each region has a start time and an end time which is determined by the portion of the waveform you selected.
The start-end times of the selected region can appear in discussions.
If you edit an audio waveform you can select a region and use
(Delete Region) to delete that portion of the waveform.
