To open this dialog box, click (Auto Segment Parameters) on the segmentation toolbar, which is above the audio waveform for the current passage.
Click and drag the slider on the line to account for recorded background noise or other sounds that will not be transcribed.
This is the threshold of how quiet moments must be to qualify as silent.
The value is a multiple of 1000ths of a decibel (dB).
For an audio file that has more noise or other sounds, move the slider towards a larger indicated value.
Click and drag the slider on the line to set the length of silence that you want.
This sets the minimum duration of silence in which the auto segmenter will put a segment boundary.
The value is a multiple of 100ths of a second.
Click and drag the slider on the line to set the minimum segment length, which is measured in seconds.
Near the bottom, the total number of segments is stated.
Each time you change a parameter and click Apply, that number changes.
